Nitroplast

Nitroplast is an organelle originally found in the algae Braarudosphaera Bigelowii that is used to get nitrogen from the environment, a process that is otherwise normally impossible for eukaryotes due to the fact that nitrogen breaks down in the presence of oxygen.

If studied, it's possible that the nitroplast can lead to significant breakthroughs in agriculture, by genetically engineering crops to get their own nitrogen instead of depending on fertilizer.
