At music lesson, listening to obsidian moon:

  • Four to the floor drumbeat makes it not sound like mathrock.
  • Could try moving bass to offbeat, so it isn't playing with the kick.
  • Could try doubling the bass and lead, like at the end of the phrase.
  • Could try doing the B section only one time instead of twice, before going back into the groove.
  • Could try adding an accompaniment that plays whole notes an octave above the guitar.
  • Could double the guitar to make the song feel like it is developing.
  • I don't feel like adding a riser would feel "mathrock", so what can I do to increase tension?
    • Change the chords at the end of the verse, or just changing the root notes of the base
    • We need a chorus which feels big and contrasting in some way. Maybe chords, hits, or stops.
